Volunteering
Tees Valley YMCA offers young people the chance to grow and learn through volunteering activities.
Our aim is to provide young people with opportunities that are interesting, relevant and support their progression and development. Through the Options programme our volunteering seeks to improve skills, motivation, and confidence as well as developing a sense of community and improving physical and emotional wellbeing.
There is no limit to what or how much volunteering you can do! Opportunities extend beyond the YMCA to external organisations, businesses or community groups.
If you are trying to gain experience and develop new skills, volunteering is an excellent way of doing this. With colleges, universities and employers being more selective, volunteering is a great way to show commitment, enthusiasm and the ability to go that extra mile.
Volunteering is great for those who just want to give something back to the community, or to use spare time effectively. The Options programme ensures that young people get started on volunteering that is relevant to their needs and interests and provides meaningful opportunities to support young people in gaining transferable skills and a greater understanding of the community in which they live.
Over the past 4 years more than 3000 young people have been involved in volunteering activities through Tees Valley YMCA. We are an organisation that promotes best practice in youth volunteering both within the YMCA and with external agencies.
